Mazda has announced it will be ending production of its RX-8 after the 2012 model year. As a consolation, Japanese drivers will be getting a special edition version of the coupe.The RX-8 Spirit R, which is named after the final edition RX-7 that was released for the 2002 model year, will get trim-exclusive features such as red front and rear brake calipers, larger brakes, curtain and front side airbags, special Recaro front seats, black leather seats with red stitching, and 19-inch bronze alloy wheels.The special edition RX-8 will go on sale in Japan on November 24, 2011, and Mazda expects to sell 1,000 units.
