Adaminte Makan Abu - Malayalam Film Goes For Oscar






Adaminte Makan Abu, a national award-winning Malayalam film which deals with the struggle of a poor perfume seller to collect money for Haj, has been named India's official entry for this year's Oscars. The movie was written, directed and co-produced by debut filmmaker Salim Ahamed.

The film recently won four National awards including Best Feature film and Best Actor for Salim, who essayed the lead role of the struggling unani medicine and perfume salesman.

It was selected ahead of films like No One Killed Jessica, 7 Khoon Maaf and Dhobi Ghat (all Hindi), Rajinikanth-starrer Enthiran, KO and Aadukalam (Tamil) and Moner Manush (Bengali). The Oscars will take place on February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. The host will be Eddie Murphy.
